Immune System

“The best and most efficient pharmacy is within our own system”

– Dr Robert C Peale

Each human being has the ability to defend himself or herself from communicable diseases such as bacteria, fungi, virus or Non Communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases , cancer and so on through body’s own defense mechanism. This defense mechanism is known as Immune System and the ability to defend is called as Immunity.

This immune system Possess many biological structure and processes within human body to protect against disease. To function properly, the immune system must detect pathogens from virus to parasitic worms and distinguish them from the human’s own healthy tissue.

Pathogens can rapidly evolve and adapt, thereby avoid detection and neutralization by the immune system. However multiple defense mechanisms have also evolved to recognize and neutralize pathogens. Humans have defense mechanism to neutralize include Phagocytosis, anti- microbial peptides called defensins and the complement system and even more sophisticated defense mechanisms including the ability to adapt over time to recognize specific pathogens more efficiently.

LAYERED DEFENSE

The immune system protects human beings from the infection with layered defenses of increasing specificity. In simple terms, the physical barriers prevent pathogens from entering the human body.
